Granite
Granite is a light-colored plutonic rock found throughout the continental crust, most commonly in mountainous areas. It consists of coarse grains of quartz (10-50%), potassium feldspar, and sodium feldspar. These minerals make up more than 80% of the rock.

Before granite slabs were resined, Engineered Stone had one major advantage over its natural counterpart, and it was difficult to stain. Now, with the advent of resined slabs, that advantage is gone. The primary difference is the appearance. Man-made products come in a large range of consistent colors that do not occur naturally in nature.

Marble is a metamorphosed sedimentary carbonate rock. Limestone or dolomites (carbonate rocks) are the typical base minerals. The recrystallization of the carbonate minerals results in Marble.
Often, the original structure of the carbonate rocks is modified during the metamorphism, to give the marble an unrecognizable form from its original state. The swirling and veins in marble often result from mineral impurities, which are layered in the original limestone or dolomite.

It is recommended that you clean quartz countertops on a daily basis if the countertop was in use. Taking this simple precaution will help eliminate stuck-on foods, and spills will not have a chance to dry and stain. Specialized quartz cleaners can also be used to wipe up everyday messes. They are formulated specifically for quartz, and are available for purchase in home improvement stores and online.
MAINTENANCE FOR GRANITE COUNTERTOPS
When your granite countertop is properly sealed, daily care is a breeze. Just use a soft cloth to dust the surface, or wipe it down with plain water or a mild soap. If your countertop needs extra cleaning, use a specially-formulated stone cleaner with a neutral pH. Never use abrasive cleansers or harsh chemicals.
